Scientists at the University of Tokyo made a robot that travels using live muscle tissue from rats. They call the appendix similar to a cyborg a "biohybrid robot".
The researchers published an article in the science journal Science Robotics that describes the functionality of the scary device and how they produced it. The robot itself is very rudimentary. It's basically a finger (or two) with a single point of movement.
However, its simplicity does not hinder its functionality. The video above shows the robot handling and lifting objects. Scientists say it's only the "foundation" for creating more advanced and realistic robots.
"If we can combine more of these muscles into one device, we should be able to replicate the complex muscle interaction that allows the hands, arms, and other parts of the body to function. "said Shoji Takeuchi.
Personally, I'm not sure I'm aboard his vision.
