Looks like rumors, speculation and leaks around LG's flagship G7 ThinQ have lasted forever, but the company finally unveiled the handset last week. The first practice tests have been a bit mixed, some have been, while others think that it does not stand out from the best android phones. But the big point of discussion is his notch; a feature that LG claims to have invented.

The G7 ThinQ joins, among others, the OnePlus 6, Huawei P20 and P20 Pro to come, and Asus ZenFone 5 to a screen cut. And while East Essential released the first phone with a notch in May 2017, Apple increased its size and popularized the concept when it unveiled the iPhone X in September of the same year, leading to the # 1 "IPhone X-style notch" expression.

The news of the G7 ThinQ's notch has not been well received by many Android fans, but no matter what you think, LG says it's not not copy Apple or Essential. The company claims to have found the idea years ago.

"LG has planned notch design before Apple. The screen design may look like that of other smartphones, but it has differentiated features," said Hwang Jeong-hwan, chief of LG's mobile division.

The Korean publication The Investor reports that LG does not even like the word "notch" used to describe the feature because it apparently insinuates that something is missing. LG prefers to call it a secondary display, presumably because it adds more space to the screen (on either side of the cutout).

LG is not the only phone maker who says he invented the notch. Huawei's mobile chief, Li Changzhu, said the idea had sprouted "three or four years ago" but never used it before the P20 only fears consumers, especially those in the market. China, do not like the asymmetrical appearance displays.

LG might claim to have found the idea of the hack, but a feature that he seems to copy from the iPhone X is his animated emojis based on augmented reality, which Apple calls Animoji. Hwang said that they would eventually arrive on the G7 ThinQ, as well as other LG handsets. "These software features can be updated later and will be available on both the G7 and other previous models to meet the demand of consumers who want a longer life for their smartphones," he said. he declares. LG would not be the first to "inspire" Apple in this regard; Samsung has revealed its similar AR emoji in the Galaxy S9.

In addition to its notch / second screen, which can be hidden with the addition of black bars on the sides, the G7 ThinQ features a boombox speaker that makes it ten times stronger than other smartphones, a dedicated Google Assistant button, and a display up to 1000 nits of brightness. However, it does have an LCD screen because the company only uses OLEDs in its V Series devices. LG says the phone will arrive in the US on June 2nd. No word yet on the price.
