There are threats that impersonate legitimate programs, change browsers or startup screen graphics, and even redirect traffic. Our standard scanners necessarily have a delicate balance between the detection and effective removal of malicious programs and the erroneous deletion of legitimate files. Sometimes these "scareware" programs may require special tactics to remove them.
With the Norton Power Eraser tool, these (and other) threats are specifically targeted, and thus are effectively detected and removed. Users must use the Norton Power Eraser utility when nothing else removes annoying software and they are willing to accept a higher risk that the analyzer may quarantine a legitimate application.
The program should be considered for advanced users. It can be very aggressive and delete programs that you may not want to delete.
