What just happened? The cryptomining boom may well have exceeded its peak, which means that GPU prices are finally falling, but that did not stop Asus from releasing a motherboard that supports about 20 graphics cards via PCIe-over-USB ports.

Last year, Asus announced the B250 Mining Expert, a cryptomining mobo that supports 19 GPUs. The company said that it sold so well that it decided to create a follow-up, the H370 Mining Master, which not only adds support for an additional graphics card, bringing the total to twenty, but also includes several improvements.

Instead of having only one PCIe slot along alongside 18 1 PCIe X slots for riser cards like its predecessor, the H370 has 20 PCIe-over-USB ports, allowing a USB cable to connect directly to the motherboard. Asus says that the direct connection is "more robust than using a PCIe card, with less risk of inadvertent disconnections." There is even room to add a dual slot GPU directly to the card.

The H370 not only simplifies the process of connecting multiple graphics cards, but it also includes a number of diagnostic features, including GPU status detection, which analyzes the status of each port at startup for determine which GPUs are connected. and they work. There is also a graphical state-detection interface that assigns each port an alphanumeric identifier to help identify problems.

Asus is targeting the arrival of the H370 in the United States during the third quarter of 2018. No word yet on the price, but do you expect it to be similar to or slightly higher than the B250, which sells for around $ 150.

Here is a complete list of H370 specifications:
