Oregon Democrats Kitzhaber: Time to go
Not every political scandal Watergate, even though we were sticking a "gate" suffix on each other scandal since a tribute to be paid. The scandal surrounding Oregon Governor John Kitzhaber has little resemblance to the Watergate, either; it is a scandal that personal relationships and personal use of access to power, mainly focuses on Kitzhaber fiancee and bears more resemblance to Bob McDonnell, when Richard Nixon. There is a parallel, but that the last days of Watergate remembered - the long road of allies of the executive, to tell him that it's time to go. This time, however, means that the Democrats had to deliver the bad news:
Senate President Peter Courtney and House Speaker Tina Kotek met with Governor John Kitzhaber on Thursday morning and told him that it was time to withdraw. ...

Courtney and Kotek had met with their fellow lawmakers earlier Thursday to inform them about the meeting with the governor.

As Senator Rod Monroe, D-Portland, left the meeting, he said simply, "sad day."

"I John Kitzhaber is more than any other known in the building," he said. "This is a sad day for Oregon."

Your hand may by a "bizarre" meeting with Kitzhaber called Oregon Secretary of State Kitzhaber a result of resignation (Oregon does not have a lieutenant governor) would succeed been called. Kitzhaber called Kate Brown of the meeting in Washington, DC, to immediately return to the state that did Brown, Kitzhaber provided was a decision that they demand, will be in Oregon has to offer. Following the coast to coast travel, Brown ended by Kitzhaber said that nothing change - and then began to discuss a possible transition. Brown left the meeting angry and dismayed:

Late Tuesday afternoon, I received a call from the governor, while I, in Washington, DC at a conference Secretaries He asked me to come back in Oregon as soon as possible with him personally and talk alone.

I stayed in a plane yesterday morning and arrived at 3:40 in the afternoon. I was fed directly into a meeting with the governor. It was a short meeting. He asked me why I came early from Washington, DC, which I found strange again. I asked him what he wanted to talk. The governor has told me that he was not resign, after which he began a discussion about the transition.

This is clearly a bizarre and unprecedented situation.

I told the governor that I am ready and my staff will be ready, he should resign. Right now, I'm focused on my work for the people of Oregon.

The situation has become critical for the Democrats in Oregon, who enjoyed much success with Kitzhaber as the nominal leader of their party for more than 20 years. Now, however, the state's largest newspaper has announced his retirement, and the voters agree, according to a new survey by survey USA:

58% of adults say Oregon Governor John Kitzhaber should resign, performed 2 News survey of SurveyUSA after this latest exclusive KATU. 36% say Kitzhaber should remain in office. Republicans say Kitzhaber should withdraw from a 4: 1 margin; Independents by a margin of 2: 1. Democrats say Kitzhaber should stay in office by a narrow 5: 4 margin.

45% of Oregonians say Kitzhaber has things that were not illegal immoral, but done; 28% say that Kitzhaber has broken the law; 20% say he has done nothing wrong. If the same question to Cylvia Hayes, Kitzhaber fiance and Oregon First Lady, another answer asked: majority, 54%, believe that they broke the law; another 28% say they unethical, but not illegal.

The crosstabs for this poll are brutal. More than 60% of voters 35 and older think should resign Kitzhaber, as well as 61% of independents. Democrats will not agree, but only 52/44, not just a strong vote of confidence in their top office holders. Also in Portland, 56% of respondents think Kitzhaber should beat the street, while only 48% of self-described liberals nationwide that he should remain - and 44% want from him.

Kitzhaber has only one piece left. The only tension is when he goes to realize it.
