Amazon has recently rolled out some quality of life changes for Alexa and Echo users.

In March alone, the company deployed the "short mode" feature that converts Alexa's responses into simple signals, and the "tracking mode" that allows you to chain multiple Echo commands without having to repeat the sleep word of your device.

More recently, Amazon launched the "Remember This" feature for Alexa, essentially giving a souvenir to the virtual assistant. With this feature, users can ask Alexa to remember a specific thing and recall that information later.

Now Amazon continues its series of updates with another Alexa feature. Specifically, the company has released a developer preview that will allow skill developers to choose from a wider range of Alexa voices for use in their projects.

Amazon gives this choice to developers thanks to their Polly voice synthesis service. Polly will enable skill developers to choose from eight different English voices and a wide variety of non-English voices.

The voices of Polly are far from perfect, of course, but as they see more use, it could change. Regardless of their quality, however, many users will likely appreciate the additional diversity that these voices might add to their favorite Alexa skills in the future.
