Calling directly into the HandBrake library gives it a richer user interface than the official Windows HandBrake GUI.

Prerequisite
You will need .NET 4 (only the client profile is required). If you do not have it, VidCoder will ask you to download it and install it. If you are using Windows 8, you do not need to install anything; it has .NET 4 pre-installed.
You do not need to install HandBrake for VidCoder to work.

- Added selectors! Selectors allow you to automatically choose titles, audio, subtitles and destination, as well as automatically queuing or start coding when a source is loaded. While encoding presets personalize the way a file is encoded, selectors control what is included in the file and where it goes. This also includes a review of the existing audio and subtitle selection function; it allows you to specify multiple languages and has more flexibility in setting default subtitles.

- Updated the .NET Framework to version 4.6 and added the ability to download and install the framework as part of the VidCoder installation. Hopefully that means faster boot times on x64 due to the new RyuJit engine.

- Obsolete x86 version removed. If you use it on an x64 operating system, it will automatically be upgraded to the supported x64 version.
- DXVA hardware decoding removed; it was mostly slower and caused problems.
- Added warning when there are many titles with a similar duration. This helps to identify disks written with a bunch of fake titles and mixed chapters.
- Changed the way the portable version locates the database file. It will now favor the use of the database file next to the portable executable rather than that of% appdata%.
- The preview encoding progress bar now correctly reflects total progress and does not reset during a subtitle scan or 2-pass encoding.
- The output of the log rendered to the window appears much faster.
- Journal window changed to only scroll down on new logs if we were already down, so it will not come out if you scrolled to look at something earlier in the log.
- The drag and drop file now works on any window.
- We are now backing up the database files when they are upgraded and propose to restore them if the current database is too high. This allows you to go back to an earlier version and keep your old presets.
- Added the management of a simple path argument directly to VidCoder.exe. This means that you can drag a video on its shortcut to launch VidCoder and open that file.
- Added automatic detection of character set when adding SRT files. Gives a warning when the detection fails or does not match an available encoding.
- Added automatic cleaning of temporary handbrake files for times when the encoder or application was crashing without cleaning.
- The "Custom Folder for Previews" setting now replaces the directory used for static HandBrake previews.
- Updated to handle the new HandBrake filter format, with named parameters. Added tooltips to boxes to list possible parameter names and to list default values when first opened.
- Updated to keep the names of the chapters of the source video if they are present.
- Moving batch scans to the worker process for better protection against scan crashes when loading a large number of files.
