Microsoft wants to make beautiful encounters again

Look, many of us who work in corporate environments dread meetings. Most of the time, they are unproductive or boring and prevent us from doing a real job. Fortunately, Microsoft is trying to make meetings less attractive with cool technology.

During the Build Developer Conference, Microsoft presented a meeting with the help of a 360-degree camera and a matrix of microphones able to not only identify and greet participants but also to transcribe in real time everyone.

As the simulated meeting continued, the array of microphones was able to accurately transcribe what each person was saying and display the transcript on the Surface Hub. In this way, anyone connected remotely to the meeting can see what is being said. This could go a long way for those who need assistive technologies because of impairments such as deafness. In addition, the transcript may also be translated for participants in meetings that are not native languages.

If that was not impressive enough, Microsoft is trying to leverage its advances in artificial intelligence to act on what the meeting participants say. It automatically records the action items that are spoken by a person. For example, if the person says, "I will make sure to create this chart and send it to you by email," the person will automatically receive a reminder in the Microsoft teams to create the chart and display it. send by email.

Microsoft also showed the real-time remote collaboration between two people wearing the HoloLens while the other participants in the meeting could watch on the Surface Hub screen.

There was obviously no release date for this new meeting room technology but it could eventually be included in the new Surface Hubs that will be available soon. Whatever it is, it's sure to make the meetings truly productive ... I hope.
