With these tools one can get information about Matroska files (mkvinfo), extract tracks / data from Matroska files (mkvextract) and create Matroska files (mkvmerge) from other multimedia files. Matroska is a new multimedia file format aimed at becoming THE new container format for the future. Bug Fixes
- mkvmerge: MP3 packetizer: Removing a memory leak growing linearly with the size of the track.
- mkvmerge: VobSub packetizer: Whenever a VobSub package does not contain a container-level duration, mkvmerge defines it from the duration in the SPU packets. Before, it was accidentally set to 0 over the duration of the SPU. Res # 2260.
- mkvmerge: tracking statistics tags: if the date element's write is disabled via --no-date, the _STATISTICS_WRITING_DATE_UTC is no longer written either. Fixes # 2286.
- mkvmerge, mkvextract, mkvpropedit: removal of several small memory leaks of constant size.
- mkvextract: Fixed a crash when mkvextract with a non-Matroska file as the source file. Fixes # 2281.
- MKVToolNix GUI: The central area is now scrollable, allowing the GUI to be resized to almost arbitrary sizes. Fixes # 2265.
- MKVToolNix GUI: Multiplexer: The "Copy file name to destination file name" feature will now replace everything in the destination file name until the last period instead of just up to. in the first period. Res # 2276.
Building System Changes
- build system: MKVToolNix now requires a compiler that supports the following features of the C ++ 14 standard: "user-defined literals for std :: string". For the GNU compiler collection (gcc), this means v5.x or newer; for clang, it means v3.4 or newer.
- Windows: Linking with and installing the shared version of Libraries with MXE is now supported by setting the configure configure host triplet, eg. --host = x86_64-w64-mingw32.shared.
Other changes
- mkvmerge: AV1: AV1 support must be manually enabled by adding --engage enable_av1 because the AV1 bitstream specification has not been finalized yet.
