AT & T Increases the Cost of Unlimited Data Plans Against Acquired Rights

If you have subscribed to one of AT & T's old unlimited data plans for more than a few years, you have probably experienced some price increases over time.

In fact, these grandfathered data plans saw their first price increase in 2015, when AT & T increased the monthly fee from $ 35 to $ 35. More recently, in 2017, the company did the same thing, raising the cost from $ 35 to $ 40

Now prices are rising again, by $ 5 more for a total of $ 45, as MacRumors has noticed.

This is still a better price as users would pay for one of the recently reorganized AT & T "Unlimited Choice" and "Unlimited Plus" data plans, which cost 65 respectively. and $ 80.

However, these more frequent price increases will likely frustrate users who have consistently paid the same amount each month for their data plan.

AT & T explained its decision in a statement:

Consumers are using mobile data at record levels and the trend is expected to continue. To ensure that we continue to offer the best service to all our customers, a small price increase is underway at the moment.

Customers who have a $ 40 package will receive notifications of $ 5 per month rate increase for the data plan. The rate increase will take effect from the customer's service in July 2018.

AT & T states that they will not make any further changes to the way that prior plans work. Data speeds will not be changed. users will still only have their speeds limited when they exceed 22 GB of data in a given month, or if they are in a "congested" area.

The $ 5 price increase for the old AT & T data plans will come into effect in July.
