Something to Hope: Respawn is one of many studios with Star Wars games in preparation. Co-founder Vince Zampella stopped at EA's E3 presentation to share the name, release time, and some vague details on his upcoming title.
Titanfall developer Respawn gave an impromptu unveiling of his new Star Wars game at EA's E3 presentation. The studio's co-founder, Vince Zampella, "just happened," sat in the presser's assistance, and was contacted about some speculation regarding the current project. Zampella played it shy but revealed some teasing details including the name and launch window.
The game will call Star Wars: Jedi Fallen Order. Zampella said it will be set up during a "dark time" that falls between episode III and episode IV when the Jedi are chased out. He also revealed that the players would assume the role of a Jedi.
"It takes place during the dark times - trying to be a little vague here - but when Jedis are chased away."
The studio first announced the game last year. The project is led by Stig Asmussen of God of War and will be a third person action title rather than an RPG like KOTOR, which for me is only slightly disappointing. However, BioWare seems to be working on it. We still do not know if the game will contain multiplayer elements.
When asked if Respawn would have anything more to show us at the E3 next year, Zampella responded enthusiastically: "Oh yes."
The new Respawn game is that one of the many Star Wars irons that EA has in the fire. DICE, BioWare, Visceral Games and Capital Games would also be working on StarWars games for EA. Zampella said that Star Wars: Jedi Fallen Order is scheduled for a holiday launch of 2019.
